The night that inspired it all…
It began the night her sisters and female cousins gathered together.
'Are you taking notes?' Isabella asked.
Laughter spilt over the question, and four separate gazes were drawn to Daniella. No one seemed surprised. If anyone was going to document the night, it was going to be her — the first girl in the family, the eldest daughter, the one with the meticulous, almost obsessive eye for the particulars. She heard the question but barely looked up, the long line across her forehead etching deeper.
'But I have to,' she said.
‘Their power did not leave with them. They poured what was left into us.’
